This weekend my husband and I took my parents to see my sister and brother in law in the city that soon will become their new home. It was a very special time for us to be together. It was a weekend filled with lots of activities, great meals and good conversations!
It also was a weekend that I lost a few items...I lost one of my favorite gold earrings the first evening, the second day I lost one of my gold bangle bracelets and that night I realized that one of the diamonds had fallen out of my wedding band....ugh!! I can't even remember the last time I actually lost an item...I have misplaced a few only to find them in the least expected places...haha! But, these were items that either fell off or out at a time that I was unaware.
I share this with you because it got me to thinking...I could have focused on the items of jewelry that I lost (especially the diamond) or I could focus on the special and fun time I experienced. I chose to focus on the experience...the fact that we were all together, that my parents were able to join in and we had the opportunity to do some fun things, we all were physically able and well, beautiful weather and so on...you get the idea, right?!
Thankfulness and Gratitude is a choice that we each make...we can choose how we react to things that come our way on a daily basis. Now, I know the items that I mentioned were material items and it is much harder when more serious issues come our way. But, over the years I have also learned that the way I react to more challenging situations will affect the quality of life I enjoy as well. I seek to have an "attitude of gratitude" in the small, large and everything in between! I have a Joy in the Lord that goes beyond what my circumstances may be. I praise Him daily for my blessings and I pray to be a blessing to someone!
As we enter this week of Thanksgiving, may we each reflect on the blessings in our lives and have a "Grateful Heart" every day and not just for the season!!
Until next time...Be Blessed, Be a Blessing and Be Beautiful YOU!!
With Love and Joy!
